Monthly Blessings - March Seva Updates from the Heart of Vrindavan
March in Vrindavan arrives with color, celebration, and overflowing joy. The coolness of winter gives way to warmth, and the entire atmosphere has come alive with festivals, kirtan, flowers in full bloom, and shared devotion in our Radha Kunda Community.
It is a time when the spirit of Vrindavan feels especially present, through laughter, song, and the vibrant expressions of love that fill every corner of Radha Kunda and Govardhan.
This Month in Vrindavan
Throughout March, the widows and Brajavasis embraced a season of celebration while continuing their steady rhythm of seva. Daily meals, cleaning, and restoration carried on as always, now accompanied by the joyful energy of Holi and Gaura Purnima.
With increased crowds and festive gatherings, the community came together in both service and celebration, ensuring that the sacred spaces remained clean, welcoming, and filled with devotion.
March has been a beautiful balance of care and celebration, where seva and joy moved hand in hand.
Widows' Daily Meals: Nourishment in a Time of Celebration
Even amidst the festivities, the daily meal program remained constant, serving over 150 widowed women with freshly prepared prasadam each day of rice, dhal, fresh vegetables, sweet treats, and more!
As the weather warmed and spirits lifted, the women gathered with vibrant energy, sharing meals, chanting together, and enjoying the sense of community that grows especially strong during festival season.
The kitchen remained active and joyful, ensuring that each woman received nourishing food and care, no matter how busy the days became.
Widows Seva: Caring for Radha Kunda During Festive Crowds
With the arrival of Holi and Gaura Purnima, Radha Kunda welcomed an influx of pilgrims and visitors. Throughout it all, the widows continued their daily cleaning seva with dedication and attentiveness.
They took extra care to maintain the ghats, temple areas, and surrounding spaces, ensuring that Radha Kunda remained clean, peaceful, and accessible despite the increased activity with many flower offerings and pujas in Radha Kunda and the community temples.
Their steady presence allows the sacred atmosphere to be preserved, even during the most vibrant and crowded times of the year.
Widows Holi Celebration: Joy, Color, and Community
This month, the widows came together to celebrate Holi in a safe, loving, and joyful environment created especially for them.
With vibrant colors, flower petals, sweets, and gifts, the women laughed, danced, and celebrated together, free to express joy in a space where they are honored and protected.
For many widows, Holi is not always accessible in the broader community. Here, they are able to fully participate, sharing in the beauty of the festival, surrounded by care and sisterhood. With love and affection, they also encouraged our Brajavasi community to share in the fun with them!
Gaura Purnima: Kirtan, Celebration, and Devotion
Gaura Purnima was celebrated with deep devotion and heartfelt joy. The Deities of Radha Madan Mohan were beautifully dressed for the occasion with new outfits and ornaments, and the temple filled with kirtan, prayers, and offerings.
The widows participated fully, singing, chanting, and celebrating together in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere that carried throughout the day.
It was a moment of connection and remembrance, bringing the community together in shared devotion and gratitude.
Jagannath Mishra’s Feast: A Celebration of Offering and Care
Following Gaura Purnima, the community gathered to celebrate Jagannath Mishra’s Feast Day with a beautiful and abundant offering.
The widows prepared and shared a festive meal, filled with traditional dishes and lovingly cooked preparations. The atmosphere was joyful and communal, as the women came together to serve and honor the occasion.
The Jagannath Mishra feast was one of several feasts throughout March, carrying the celebrations throughout the entire month. These moments of shared celebration bring warmth, dignity, and a sense of belonging to the entire community.
Brajavasi Seva: Supporting the Sacred Land During Festival Season Our Brajavasi team worked tirelessly throughout March, supporting both the land and the growing number of visitors.
From clearing waste and maintaining pathways to caring for gardens and sacred spaces, their efforts ensured that Govardhan remained clean, organized, and welcoming during this busy time. This season is especially beautiful as Govardhan comes into full bloom. Vibrant flowers decorate the serene kundas, and many ducks and geese come to enjoy these sacred waters.
Our Brajavasi service becomes even more essential during festivals, maintaining the atmosphere as everything comes to life, quietly supporting the flow of devotion, and protecting the sanctity of the land.
Month after month, your support brings light into the lives of those who have often been forgotten. You help ensure that the widows of Radha Kunda are not only fed and clothed, but also honored. That the land of Vrindavan is not only walked upon, but cherished.
Thank you,
RadhaSeva Team.
