Purnima was born to an impoverished family in West Bengal. She was not given the opportunity for an education as her family could not afford it. She was instead married to a young man in her village at a very early age. Being too young to leave her family at only 12 years old, her family waited some years before she was to move into her husband's home. Unfortunately, her husband died before she went to live with him, and had almost no contact with him prior. Her family wanted her to remarry since she was still only a child, but she was determined not to remarry and chose to instead dedicate her life to her spiritual practices. She lived in her brother's home until her father died and her mother became a widow. Her mother, not wanting to be a burden to the family decided to move to Radha Kunda. Later, Purnima decided to care for her mother and be with her instead. Together they began cleaning Radha Kunda as their seva until Purnima came in contact with our community. She has been with us serving and caring for Radha Kunda ever since, while still caring for her elderly mother.
