Monthly Blessings - November Seva Updates from the Heart of Vrindavan

November in Vrindavan carries the deep sweetness of Kartik’s final days, a time when devotion lingers in the air, lamps continue to glow, and the rhythm of sacred service remains steady and full of heart.

This Month in Vrindavan Throughout November, the energy of Kartik remained vibrant and alive. Pilgrims continued to arrive, parikramas carried on, and the sacred spaces of Radha Kunda and Govardhan were filled with prayer, chanting, and celebration.

Our widows and Brajavasi teams met this sacred season with steady devotion, extending care not only to their own community but to traveling pilgrims and families who came seeking connection, nourishment, and spiritual shelter.

Even as the crowds began to thin toward the end of the month, the impact of Kartik remained deeply felt—in the hearts of the women, in the land itself, and in the continued spirit of service that carries forward.

Widows Daily Meals: Expanding Care During Kartik

During Kartik, our daily meal program naturally expanded beyond our regular community of widows to include traveling women and children—many of whom journey from Bengal with very few resources, yet deep determination to reach Vrindavan and Radha Kunda.

After long parikramas and days of walking, these women arrive tired, often with little access to proper food. Our widowed community welcomes them with warmth, offering freshly prepared prasadam, hot chapattis, nourishing dhal, and local vegetables.

It is a beautiful sight: widows serving widows, and extending that same care to pilgrims in need. In this sacred month, no one is turned away. The spirit of seva was expansive, inclusive, and deeply compassionate in Radha Kunda.

Widows Feasts: Joy in Community Widows feasts continued throughout November as a highlight of Kartik celebrations. These gatherings bring together hundreds of women to share in beautifully prepared meals, festive dishes, and moments of connection.

The women cook with enthusiasm, offering their favorite preparations with care and devotion. Laughter, conversation, and kirtan fill the space as they serve one another.

For many, these feasts are moments of celebration, belonging, and shared joy in a life that has often lacked such experiences.

Festivals & Bhagavat Katha at Madan Mohan The temple of Madan Mohan became a vibrant center of activity throughout the month, hosting Bhagavat Katha recitations, kirtans, and visiting devotional groups.

Traveling pilgrims and spiritual communities gathered to hear sacred narrations, sing together, and participate in Kartik’s offerings. The widows were deeply engaged in these events—listening, chanting, and serving alongside the visiting devotees.

These gatherings brought an enlivening energy to the community, strengthening spiritual connection and creating a sense of unity among all who came.

Widows Govardhan Parikrama Each Ekadashi, and especially during Kartik, many of the widows undertake the sacred parikrama of Govardhan Hill, a journey of approximately 21 kilometers (13 miles).

Beginning early in the morning from Radha Kunda, they walk barefoot or in simple sandals, chanting and praying as they make their way around the sacred hill, returning again to Radha Kunda by day’s end.

This parikrama is both a physical austerity and a profound spiritual offering. Despite age, hardship, and physical challenges, the women complete it with determination and devotion, seeing it as an offering of love to Sri Krishna.

Medical Care: Continued Support Through Kartik With increased activity during Kartik, access to medical care remained essential. Many widows, particularly elderly women, experience joint pain, fatigue, and other ongoing conditions that require attention.

Through our medical support efforts, the women were able to receive care, consultation, and relief, allowing them to continue their daily seva with strength and stability.

This ongoing care ensures that even during the busiest and most demanding times, the health and well-being of the widows remain supported.

Brajavasi Men’s Reading Group: Strengthening Devotion Once a month, our Brajavasi men gather for a reading group, a time of reflection, learning, and shared inspiration.

They read about the pastimes of Krishna, the sacred significance of the very places they serve, and the deeper meaning behind their daily work. These discussions strengthen not only their knowledge but their connection to one another and to their service.

It is a grounding and uplifting practice that reinforces their purpose, reminding them that their work is not just maintenance, but important seva.

Month after month, your support brings light into the lives of those who have often been forgotten. You help ensure that the widows of Radha Kunda are not only fed and clothed, but also honored. That the land of Vrindavan is not only walked upon, but cherished. Thank you, RadhaSeva Team.
