Monthly Blessings -August Seva Updates from the Heart of Vrindavan

The Beauty of Service in the Sacred Month of Shravan.

As the monsoon rains continue to nourish the sacred land of Vrindavan, August brings a special kind of beauty to Braj. Govardhan Hill is clothed in fresh greenery, the ancient kundas are replenished by the rains, and the forests and pathways come alive with the abundance of the season.

Amidst this beauty, the quiet rhythm of seva continues.

This Month in Vrindavan From the kitchens of Radha Kunda to the sacred groves of Govardhan, our widows and Brajavasi caretakers have spent another month offering their hands and hearts in service. This month also brought the joyful celebration of Lord Balarama's Appearance Day, special feasts, and moments of devotion shared among the ladies. We are delighted to share these blessings with you, whose kindness makes this service possible.

Widows' Daily Meals: Nourishing the Widows of Radha Kunda

Every day, the widows of Radha Kunda gather to receive freshly prepared prasadam, continuing a cherished tradition of care that has become an essential part of their lives.

Behind each meal are many helping hands. From rolling chapatis and preparing vegetables to cooking, serving, and cleaning, the ladies themselves take part in the daily service that nourishes their community.

During August, this loving care continued through the monsoon season, when heavy rains can make everyday life in Braj more challenging.

Thanks to our generous supporters, this daily tradition continues to offer nourishment and reassurance to more than 150 widowed women.

A Feast to Brighten the Rainy Season There is something especially beautiful about gathering for a feast during the rainy season. While the monsoon brings welcome relief from the summer heat, it can also bring difficulties for elderly women navigating the narrow lanes and changing weather of Radha Kunda, which is why we were so thrilled by the turnout for our Balaram Feast.

This August, the ladies came together for this special feast, enjoying a generous meal prepared and served with care.

Seated together in long rows, they shared not only delicious prasadam but also the warmth of one another's company.

These occasions are an important part of our care for the widows. Beyond their daily meals, special feasts give us an opportunity to offer something extra — a celebration in which every woman is welcomed, honored, and remembered.

To everyone who helps make these gatherings possible, thank you for bringing such sweetness into the lives of the ladies.

The Widows' Loving Service at Radha Kunda Every morning, the ancient temples, ghats, and pathways of Radha Kunda receive the quiet attention of women who consider this sacred place their home.

Armed with simple brooms, dustpans, and an enduring spirit of service, the widows carefully sweep the spaces visited by residents and pilgrims.

During August, their work continued along the ghats of Radha Kunda, where flowers and offerings gather at the water's edge throughout the day.

These offerings are an expression of devotion, yet their remains must be regularly collected to help keep the steps and surrounding waters clean.

The ladies' work is gentle and often unnoticed, but it contributes to the beauty and care of one of the most revered places in all of Vrindavan.

Caring for Govardhan in the Monsoon

The monsoon transforms Govardhan into a landscape of extraordinary beauty.

Green foliage surrounds the rocky slopes, the trees grow full and abundant, and ancient pathways wind through a renewed landscape.

Yet the rains also bring additional work.

Vegetation grows quickly, fallen leaves and debris collect along the paths, and the steps surrounding sacred kundas require regular attention.

Throughout August, our local Brajavasi caretakers continued their daily service across the Govardhan region, sweeping pathways, clearing litter, and tending the surroundings of sacred water bodies and shrines.

Their work helps keep these places welcoming for pilgrims while caring for the land itself.

Month after month, your support brings light into the lives of those who have often been forgotten. You help ensure that the widows of Radha Kunda are not only fed and clothed, but also honored. That the land of Vrindavan is not only walked upon, but cherished. Thank you, RadhaSeva Team.
