Monthly Blessings - April Seva Updates from the Heart of Vrindavan

April in Vrindavan brought intense heat, unexpected challenges, and extraordinary resilience. As temperatures rapidly climbed and the LPG cooking gas crisis continued across India, daily life became increasingly difficult for the widows and Brajavasis who sustain this seva each day.

And yet, the service never stopped.

Through heat, smoke, and constant adjustment, the community continued to cook, clean, restore sacred spaces, and care for one another with remarkable determination and devotion.

This Month in Vrindavan As the summer heat settled heavily over Radha Kunda and Govardhan, the pace of life became more physically demanding for everyone involved in the seva. Frequent power outages, limited cooking resources, and extreme temperatures created daily obstacles, but the community responded with resilience and unity.

The widows continued preparing prasadam over wood-fired clay stoves, our medical team cared for vulnerable women in the growing heat, and the Brajavasi men carried on their restoration and cleaning efforts across Govardhan despite dangerous temperatures.

April has been a powerful reminder that devotion is not dependent on comfort. Even through hardship, the spirit of seva continued steadily and beautifully.

Widows' Daily Meals: Continuing Through the LPG Crisis

This month, the ongoing LPG cooking gas crisis deeply impacted our daily meal program. With regular cooking gas supplies unavailable, our widowed ladies shifted to cooking entirely over traditional wood-fired clay stoves built by our Brajavasi team.

In temperatures reaching nearly 120°F (49°C), the women continued preparing hot meals outdoors each day for over 150 widows in need. Smoke-filled kitchens, intense heat, and long hours of labor became part of daily life, yet the women remained determined that no widow should go without prasadam.

Despite every challenge, meal distribution never stopped.

The women continued gathering each day with gratitude and devotion, receiving warm dhal, fresh chapattis, drinking water, and relief from the severe summer conditions. It has been a deeply humbling example of resilience, community, and loving service.

Widows Feasts: Celebration Amidst Difficulty Even during this difficult season, the widows came together for a beautiful community feast filled with warmth, celebration, and joy.

The women prepared special dishes with enthusiasm and care, sharing prasadam, laughter, and time as sisters. In moments like these, the importance of community becomes especially clear, creating space not only for survival but for joy, dignity, and emotional nourishment as well.

These feasts remain one of the most cherished experiences for the widowed community, reminding the women that they are deeply valued and loved.

Distribution of Saris and Sandals As the summer heat intensified, we were grateful to provide new saris and sandals to the widowed ladies in our care.

For many women, proper footwear is essential during the hottest months, as the stone pathways and roads around Radha Kunda can be dangerously hot throughout the day. Lightweight saris and comfortable sandals help the women continue their daily seva with greater comfort and safety.

The women received these items with heartfelt gratitude, knowing they were being cared for not only spiritually, but practically and personally as well.

Medical Care: Dr. Yasasavini and the RadhaSeva Clinic As temperatures rose, access to medical care became even more important for the widowed community. Dr. Yasasavini continued serving the women through our RadhaSeva medical center, offering check-ups, prescriptions, consultations, and attentive care.

Many of the women suffer from age-related conditions, dehydration risks, joint pain, and fatigue during the summer months. Through regular care and trusted relationships built over time, the women feel safe and supported coming to the clinic for treatment.

The medical center remains one of the most essential forms of care we provide, ensuring the women are able to continue their lives and seva with strength and dignity in a safe and accessible environment.

Widows Cleaning Around Radha Kunda Despite the rising heat and difficult conditions, the widows continued their daily cleaning seva around Radha Kunda and Shyama Kunda with unwavering dedication.

Early each morning, before temperatures became too high, the women swept the ghats, cared for temple spaces, and maintained the sacred surroundings with attentiveness and devotion.

Their consistency is extraordinary. Even through the heat, their service remains enthusiastic, joyful, and steady, preserving the beauty and sanctity of one of the holiest places in Vrindavan.

Brajavasi Seva: Caring for Govardhan in Extreme Heat Our Brajavasi men continued their dedicated cleaning and restoration efforts throughout Govardhan despite the summer conditions.

To help protect them from dangerous temperatures, we adjusted seva hours to the earliest parts of the morning and provided protective hats for the intense sun. Even with reduced hours, the men continued maintaining pathways, clearing trash, and caring for sacred spaces throughout Govardhan with utmost care and attention.

Their commitment to preserving the beauty of this sacred land remains unwavering. Through intense heat and difficult conditions, the work continues steadily, protecting the holy places that so many pilgrims and residents depend upon.

Month after month, your support brings light into the lives of those who have often been forgotten. You help ensure that the widows of Radha Kunda are not only fed and clothed, but also honored. That the land of Vrindavan is not only walked upon, but cherished. Thank you, RadhaSeva Team.
