Support a widowed woman's life for Kartik

Meet Rohini, a widow of Radha Kunda in Vrindavan.

During this auspicious time of Damodar Maas, receive unending prosperity and good fortune by extending a gesture of divine giving to Rohini and widowed mothers like her, who care for the women in their widowed community every day.

Despite facing extreme hardships, these women continue to embody strength and grace.

Rohini cooks daily for 150 widowed women at the RadhaSeva ashram. Along with a few other ladies, she prepares over 800 chapattis each morning, made in the traditional West Bengali style. She also prepares vegetable dishes for the widows’ feasts. Her food is made with love, simplicity, and devotion, nourishing the community both physically and spiritually.

Your generous Kartik gift supports her seva and her life.

How Your Monthly Gift Makes a Difference

By becoming a monthly donor, you honor motherhood in its most universal form and offer profound changes in the lives of these deserving women by giving them a second chance at life within a community that supports and empowers them. Today, Rohini has become part of our RadhaSeva community to empower widowed women and has dedicated her life to the women in her community while caring for Vrindavan's most treasured place, Radha Kunda. By sponsoring Rohini and women like her, you are helping transform an entire community of mothers who have otherwise been left without care or support.

The Significance of Damodar Month (Kartik)

cardDamodar.jpg

The month of Kartik, also known as Damodar Maas, holds profound significance and is a time of remarkable spiritual advancement. This month is particularly dear to Lord Krishna, celebrated as His favorite time of year, as He shares His divine childhood pastimes with His eternal mother, Mother Yashoda.

One of the most enchanting aspects of Kartik is the magnification of devotional service performed during this month. Any devotional activity—no matter how small—is magnified a thousand times, amplifying the spiritual benefits derived from such practices. Devotees often take vows during Kartik to deepen their spiritual practices or simplify their material needs, setting the stage for a month dedicated to enhanced devotion.

One of our favorite offerings during this time is the offering of ghee lamps. Lighting these lamps is said to burn away sins and grant the devotee access to eternal spiritual realms.

Kartik is honored as the best, the purest of purifiers, and the most glorious of all months. The effects of performing a Kartik vrata (vow) are said to last for one hundred lifetimes, making this period incredibly auspicious for spiritual seekers. Additionally, the festival offers a beautiful opportunity to remember the pastimes of Lord Krishna bound by ropes of Mother Yashoda's love, expressing His profound relationship with His devotees.

In essence, Kartik (Damodar) is a time filled with bhakta vatsalya, an expression of love and care for devotees. It is a month that invites everyone to engage in devotional activities, embrace the spirit of giving, and immerse themselves in the love of Lord Krishna. As we celebrate this sacred time, we are reminded of the transformative power of devotion and the endless opportunities for spiritual growth it presents.
